Had a similar experience. I have worn the same boots (same brand and 1 of 2
similar models) for over 20 years. They always felt good to my feet so I
kept buying them. I bought them at farm and fleet (a farm products store
here abouts.) When I needed boots, I would go there and find out if the
pair that fit best was the model with the steel toes or not. Hence the 2
models. They had a tag inside the top that said "Made in USA". I knew they
were cheap boots, as they cost less than many others and the heels were
hollow, (always mada a lot of noise walking) but if they feel good to your
feet, they are OK in my book. A month ago, I needed new ones again and I
went to Farm & Fleet again, but when I went to try them on, I couldn't.
They were too narrow. I couldn't get my foot in at all in my chosen size of
10 1/2 D. Tried a 10 1/2EE without luck also, and an 11D. Started looking
at them all and found they are now made in China. Went to a completely
different brand and found some that I bought. Won't bitch about something
being made in another country. We all need work. BUT I won't buy something
that doesn't even come close to fitting.
