[TheForge] reply etiquette

Periodically I get the unenviable task of reminding folks to take a few
moments when replying to a message on the list to cut out any parts of the
message you are replying to that aren't necessary. This often means you can
cut all but one or two lines. Also, watch for replies to replies to
replies, most of the time it is only necessary to keep the latest part of
the text.

Doing this helps in several ways. It reduces the amount of text a reader
has to look at to follow what is being discussed. It reduces the traffic on
the internet. It really helps those who receive messages via the digest
option, and it saves space in the archives.

We all appreciate all the interesting discussions and want to thank
everyone that makes this such an active and informative list.

Just remember, when replying to a post, trim it where ever possible.

Thanks,
