Dave,

After reading this line for a  while,  I took my  side grinder and  sweet 
talked the handle of  my favorite  2  pound cross peen.  I   gave it the 
diet treatment  below the head, and a little off the "love handle 
-grip"    It seemed to feel a little better,  If not I will have to refit 
with a new handle.  I also re-worked the handle of my favorite 3 # hammer, 
but not quite as drastically.
