If you're reading email with an HTML-enabled mailer, you may see
images in scams/spam that are linked directy from the *real* eBay (or
other scam-target) site.

If you have the time and inclination, browsing
news.admin.net-abuse.email on Usenet may give you some forewarning of
new or repeat scams going around by email.  Look for keywords such as
phish, 419 or scam in the subject listing.
