Bob: That's no fun.....tendonitis is often a chronic condition. First
thing to do is rest the tendon. In the most acute phase, ice is
helpful, followed by heat in a few days after resting the tendon.
Preventive measures: Always warm up the joints of your fingers wrist, elbow
and shoulder before beginning hammering. The warm ups used by
aikido/jujitsu practitioners work well.
Also, some folks take non-steroidal meds before a day of hard hammering.
These drugs suppress the production of prostaglandin, which causes swelling
and are the body's signal that an injury has occurred.
Also, review your hammering technique. Are you over- gripping your hammer?
I have found that a more relaxed grip is very helpful to my elbow.

> Good forging weather (cool rain) here in Minnesota. But I hurt my elbow a
couple of weeks ago. "Tennis" elbow I think. It seems to be slow going away.
Does anyone have ideas for treatment/exercises etc.
