I talked to the head honcho at Acadia Gas Engines before they went out
of business 20 or so years ago.  I asked about my 7-1/2 HP engine.  He
told me that it was exactly the same as the 10HP engines only mine was
older.  At one time they had applied plates that said 7-1/2 HP to
engines that bench tested at between 11HP and 12HP, just to give "fair
measure".  But then competitors started selling approximately the
sqame engine and calling them 10HP so Acadia felt compelled to rebadge
theirs as 10HP too.

When was the last time you heard a marketing droid talk about "fair
measure"?

Scroungeing:  Just was given a somewhat primitive winch with a seized
electric motor if I would find a way to detach it from the wharf.
Took along a genreator, ground off the bolt heads.  Neat thing.  Now
what do I have that looks like it need winching? :-)
