Those scotch brite like " surface conditioning disks" sold for 4 1/2" peanut grinders work pretty well , you can go on from there but it starts sucking up time.
Incralac is the way to go...traditional lacquer is cheaper of course. Because of the application, a very water proof surface is what you want...copper loves oxy.............Pete
