My hand cranked blower has a place of honor in storage. It was much simpler to use an old furnace venter from a 90+ furnace.

Rheostats are nice , but the same think can be done by arranging a variable choke/ spill valve into the piping to the forge from the blower. My blower is in the service room along with the compressor. It is quieter for me and cleaner for the fan.

I will build my coal forge this winter. I bought a hand crank blower about 16 years ago. The gears are bad but the fan and housing are in good shape. I would like to put it on a small single phase motor and control the speed with a rheostat.Could you tell me what size motor and the RPM. What kind of rheostat? Would appreciate any help and advice you could give me. Hope to hear from you soon , thanks.
