Albany, NY.  Senate lobby of the state legislature.  Gates/screens by
Al Paley.  They're in an area not officially open to the public -- the
schmoozing pen for the Fat Cats of Albany and, um, well, lobbyists of
course.  But when Sam Allen and I stopped there looking only
moderately respectable and explained ourselves to the guard, he
forbade us to enter, then looked the other way (while watching us like
a hawk) while we edged a few feet in among the nattering $1500 suits
and posturing Late Afternoon Semidemiformal Mauve Dickies to look at
the ironwork.  (This accommodating wink-nudge attitude may have been
attenuated by 9/11 but it doesn't hurt to go and try.)

It's a spectacular piece of work, nothing like the stuff he's doing today.
