If yer initial explanation was not clear enough perhaps a well used torch or 
even better a hammer can be used to clearly indicate which wall and what part 
of the sub floor that needed to be replaced.  A side effect of this is a 
relief of stress once a sizable "indicator" hole has been created in the offending 
structures.  

Time enough for sleep in the grave.
