I have seen several folks ask about charcoal for forging in the past. Here 
is a VERY thorough review of different brands of bagged, lump charcoal. 
This site was created by someone using a cooker called the Big Green Egg 
(BGE) but I doubt you will find a more comprehensive comparison of 
different charcoals anywhere on the web.
