[TheForge] Welding a whole lotta cast iron

OK, Back on topic...
A pertinent question RE welding up the cast tractor frame is...what kind 
of cast Iron? Some are much more forgiving than others.
 Another quesation to resolve early in this project is...is it just a 
simple break? Or are there lots of other cracks in the piece. A grinder, 
a strong magnet and some fine steel filings might give a early indication.
 On one repair, kept running into hidden old radiating cracks that had 
to be ground out. Ended up wondering if there wasn't going to  end up 
being more bronze than CI when done....Project just kept getting bigger.
Tried boric acid in quench buckets for mosquito larvae...didn't 
work...tisk. No  wigglers in big copper quench tank. A piece of copper 
sheet about  15 sq" in a 5 gal bucket works for a while, till the copper 
patinates. A 4th of July cherry bomb takes care of the wigglers real 
good..but is hard on the bucket.....Pete
