hello;
i was looking at the various old sewing machines i have here to see
which one i would use for a scroll saw. in checking out each machine it
has become obvious based on checking serial numbers with online
databases that they are all antiques.
one singer treadle was built in 1917
one singer treadle was built in 1907
one white sewing machine was built in 1915
i basically could use any of them and convert to a scroll saw. the
problem i am having is not wanting to ruin a part of history.
so here are my questions for the list.
where do others "draw the line" when it deals with taking an old working
machine and modifying it for a new purpose?
would it matter if the modification(s) is/are reversable?
would the value of the old working machine compared to the "value" of the
modified working machine be a deciding factor?
what are the deciding points or issues for others?
