Whose shears?  You didn't mention.  However, I have one of the HF 
throatless shears and like it.  It's not designed for cutting 14ga, but 
does just fine on 18 and lighter.  The HF throatless shear has done all 
I've asked it to and the blades are still sharp.  My friend Jim Enloe has 
one, but nicked the blades trying to cut some 1/8 stuff, but he still cuts 
lighter stuff with it but has to avoid the nicks in the blades.
