Kirsten,

I'm running a couple days behind on my mail so you probably have moved on to
other topics.

We homeschooled both of our children. As a matter of fact that is how I got
started in blacksmithing. My son wasn't very motivated in book learning but
liked hands on stuff and wanted to learn how to make knives. He was only 12
when we started so I couldn't just turn him loose in the shop. I learned
along with him. One thing that we all know is that the blacksmithing
community is willing to teach anyone that wants to learn and is willing to
put in the work at the craft.

Missouri is an easy state to homeschool in. No real requirements, just keep
records on what you are doing in case you ever get audited. We did a few
field trips with the local homeschool group but didn't take part in the
teaching workshops.

I just emailed Andy off list about homeschooling with questions. Are there
any other theforge families who homeschool?
