[TheForge] treadle hammer anvils

Hi Bob:
My vote is for a solid anvil and making the hammer a "trailer".
You can get trailer spindles with 2" sq. shanks and hubs for 5 bolt wheels
pretty reasonably. So for maybe another $50-75 you can have real wheels and
tires under it.
If you weld a reciever tube to the back of the hammer, just high enough the
tires clear the ground when it's upright, it'll be easy to install or remove
them. It'll be nice and stable till you tip it back and even then it'll be
balanced to stand back up. Another reciever tube welded to the top of the
spine and you can quickly install the hitch. You could rig every heavy tool
in his shop to be moved with the same hitch and tires. <grin>

If it ain't forged
it ain't real.
Wrought iron is.
