THE 23rd ANNUAL BILL GICHNER HAMMER-IN!

Saturday, January 11, and Sunday, January 12, 2003: Demonstrations from
9:00 a.m. to 12 noon; coffee and sweets both mornings; lunch served both
days on site at 12:30; demos resume after lunch until about 4:30 p.m.
Iron-in-the-Hat and the Auction follow demos on Saturday and the Saturday
evening roast beef dinner, will be served on site at 6:30 p.m. Saturday
evening's program welcomes slides of work done by any attendees who care
to make a presentation. Please bring auction and I-i-t-H items!

New this year: Smiths are invited and encouraged to bring business cards
and portfolios of your work. Even beginners should take advantage of this
chance to show who we are to each other.

Location, location, location: Hosted by Bill Gichner at The Hutchison
Brothers' Farm at 11006 Lewistown Road, Cordova on Maryland's Eastern
Shore. Meeting in a heated 48' x 70' farm shop
offering plenty of room and seats. Open house for those who care to stop
by Friday afternoon into the evening, with rumors of
oysters-on-the-half-shell at dinner time

Demonstrator: Antony (Tony) Robinson, architectural blacksmith living in
Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. Tony will demonstrate forging and
forming stainless. See page 4 for a fuller report.

Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn are closest to the site and are next to each
other. Day's Inn is about 2� miles down the road at Mile Marker 67. All
are on Route 50.

Directions:
>From the west: Route 50 east across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and stay on
50 to Easton if going to the motel first. To the farm, Route 50 to 404
east, 5 miles to first traffic light and right onto Route 309,
between Shell and Royal Farm. At stop sign in 200 yards go straight
across and into Queen Anne to the next stop sign. Turn right on Route 303
south, down the hill, around the bend, straight ahead up the hill on 303
south. In 2.2 miles when 303 takes a hard right, go straight on Lewistown
Road and go 2.3 miles to the farm on the right.
>From Easton: Route 328 west, between Pizza Hut and Hardees, go 7 miles,
turn left onto Lewistown Road. Farm in 2� miles on left. [Lewistown Rd.
only goes left and is just past Faith Drywall on left and Bullock on
right.]
>From Eastern PA and NJ: Take Route 301 south to Route 213 south to Route
50 east. Follow 50 to Easton for motel. For farm, proceed south on Route
213 about 1 mile, turn left on Route 309 south. In about 9 miles you will
come to a traffic light at Route 404. Proceed through intersection and
follow the directions above From the west.
>From Delaware: Take Route 404 west to Denton, cross the Choptank River,
turn left on Route 328
toward Easton. Stay on Route 328 for 9 miles, turn right on Lewistown
Road. Farm is 2� miles on left.
