I went to a famous area Burger and Fry joint and they were happy to give me
5 gallons of oil that was 3 days old, and so far has worked great, only it
will thicken up if left to get really cold.

The one drawback I can think of in using peanut, olive or other cooking oils
for quenching is attracting all the varmints to the workshop. I can picture
all the raccoons in the neighborhood congrating in the shop looking for that
deep fried turkey....8^)
