        Mike,  This is just what I did, but I put a 200,000 BTU Reznor
propane ceiling furnace up in my shop.  It heats the building (also 30 x 40)
easily and quickly as I don't leave it run at night (just don't trust gas
when I'm not around).  It was $1,050 for the furnace and about another $350
for the regulators, underground line, tubing, and 3/4 pipe to run thru the
building with the flex line and hangers at the end.   I've been happy with
it and it gives me the bulk propane for torch and forge.
        I've also tried wood in the past two shops, and oil fired hot
air.......nothing compared to this unit, it cooks and gives you some heat.
If your gonna pay money - it's nice to be comfortable.
