[TheForge] 1045 uses

I want to make swages and special purpose tools for using under a 100 lb 
hammer.  I have not had much luck finding "spring steel" which Clifton Ralph 
recommended.  I am wondering if there is a draw back to using 1045.  I know a 
lot of people use mild steel for swages but i am concerned that with all the 
work that goes into these tools that the life span will be to short.  I have 
heard of carburizing mild steel but have no experience. I would like to hear 
your recomendations.
