Sorry for posting something so far off topic. I am getting desperate to find
the type of screw and nut described below.
They were often used on tools such as "friction" type calipers, etc. As I remember
them the screw had a hex head that was very low in height and the hex was maybe
7/16 or 1/2 in. or so. They were like a shoulder screw in that they would hold the
item together and would have a shoulder that was large but not very long. Like for a
caliper made from two pieces of .050 material the shoulder would only be about
.100 long. The threads would be a fine pitch (maybe 32 or 40 tpi) and the nut would
have a low height. They were used with a cup or bellville washer to keep the screw
in tension..
I want to make some calipers with various motifs of the "girlie" design and would
like to use these types of screws to hold the two halves together. In fact I think it's
crucial to find an acceptable fastener or I'll forget the whole project. No thanks, I
don't want to make the screws and nuts.
If anyone knows where this type of screw and nut can be purchased, I would sure
like to know.
Thanks in advance for your help.
