Phlip-

1) Any mason supply yard will have firebrick that will work for 95% of any 
smithing application. (If you're planning ahead, they course-out 
differently than common brick)

2) Industrial boiler repair houses (and we are blessed with a few here in 
CT) stock the wicked-high temp, curved, lightweight odd-ball stuff that is 
sometimes helpful.

On an effort-to-effect basis, the common fire brick should be adequate.
