saint Phlip,
I have several sources for this type of infomation. An excellent source is
Theophilus "On Divers Arts" ("Divers" ....not "Diverse"..It is not a typo!).
Written in 1122 and translated many times, it is a treatise on Painting, Glass
Making, and Metalwork. It has been tranlated many times over the years into
various languages.
I gave a lecture this last Saturday at SUN (Stellar University of
Northshield) entitled "Theophilus - On Metalwork and using modern applications
to make period style metalwork possible in most backyards.
I described how to make a casting furnace using Theophilus's design while
using Ron Reil's burners for the heat.
Should I put my notes together in email form and send them to you? If you
send me your snail mail address I'll send you some of my handouts. Should take
a few days to get it organized to mail.

Isn't sanity really just a one trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one
trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazyooh hoo hoo hoothe
sky's the limit!
