No one has mentioned Kodak.

I have a  Kodak DX6430, and am happy with it. It can do way more than I am
capable of using.
It has 3.1 megpix ,and 4X optical zoom.  It was about $250, but I added NiMH
battery charger ($40)
and 64 memory card ($50). Circuit City.
It has greatly increased my picture taking in both quantity and quality.
