Nomex is not a good choice for contact with hot metal. It's designed for
flame resistance and WILL melt and deep fry you on contact with hot =
metal,
embers, etc.

Nomex is typically used as underwear with a hot contact material =
outerwear.
FD turnout gear is still heavy cotton canvas.

Kevlar is a much better choice for hot contact, lined leather is better.
