John Emmerling asks
How many burners on a 12"l x
> 10" dia pipe forge using 2" kaowool?
Assuming that the 10" diameter is the shell size and not the finished
ID: With any gas burner capable of achieving a neutral flame, that would be one
burner at 3/4" size or two at 1/2" size; Size being figured from the mixing
tube ID, rather than the nozzle. Nozzle sizes can vary a lot, but mixing tube ID
will become the cental factor in burner equations. Also, this is the pipe
callout or nominal size--not the actual ID. I would recommend two smaller
burners, because the interior diameter is going to be too small for a happy result
with the larger burner.
The next logical question would be how to space them; they should be not
quite equally spaced:
Exhaust edge--3 1/2"--burner--5"--burner--3 1/2"-- exhaust edge.
Aiming is a matter of personal preference and the subject of endless debate.
Let's not go there just yet :o)
