From the length of the BS on this subject it is obvious to me that you folks
have either, never seen the size of these needles, or are unfamiliar with
the concept of what it would take to weld them together.
The  total mass of the needles would be such that it would take about 10,000
of them to create enough mass to make a nail.
That doesn't even address the difficulty of the process because of the
exposed surface area of the needle in relation to its total mass, and
resultant oxide /scale formation.
You would be much better off tossing them into a large crucible covered with
flux and wow, after melting you would have a small slug of ???.
Needless to say,  if I knew who the acupuncturist was that was saving
contaminated needles,   I wouldn't  ever patronize him/her.
