Bob,

Most likely it is a No. 2, possible it is an No. 3.

for a No. 2 the dimensions of the tapers are as follows, big end 0.559
small end 0.488 and length of taper 0.875
for a No. 3 the dimensions of the tapers are as follows, big end 0.811
small end 0.746 and length of taper 1.219
all in inches.

These dimensions are for the male taper plug that fits into the chuck.
Female will be smaller at the bottom and top so that the male doesn't bottom
out.  (Or have a relief at the bottom.)  But you should be able to tell.

From Machinery's Handbook, (almost any edition).  Do you have one? If not
needs to be on your must have tool list.
