Another place to ask is your local spring shop, mine does a hefty amount
of their business making custom U bolts because frequently when they
replace or beef up stacks of vehicle springs they must make bolts to fit
the larger assembly.  and while they make it for you, ask them if you
can glean through their drops or scrap bin for enticing pieces of spring
steel...
