My question would have to be this: Is this a military fort or was this a
trading outpost( ie non-military) I ask as there is more than likely a
big difference in layout etc. I am one of the blacksmith volunteers at
Fort Vancouver NHS. It is a reconstruction of one of the Hudson Bay Co
trading Forts circa 1845. While our shop is a large one with 4 forges (
we were the main shop for the Columbia district, which was basically all
areas west of the ROckies and North of San Fran.) But if you need to
contact Ft Vancouver to see what info they can give. I know we have
pictures etc there and if our shop is anything simular to what you are
looking for I can get some pictures as well.
And if it is a military outpost shop then it seems that there should be
historical data for shop construction, as the militart does most things
by plan. Just look at one air base or navy base and you have seen them
all....<grin>
