Reading the replies to your post, I recall a meeting of the North Texas
Blacksmiths at a Dallas Park that happened to be held in conjunction
with the local farriers group( there was a antique tractor group out
there that day as well) As part of the festivities, the NTBA had
planned a competition, which the farriers were invited to participate.
The competition was for speed in turning up a perfect rin of specified
radius. As I recall, the farriers won hands down. They figured next
time they competed with farriers, they would choose a square.

Regarding getting it perfectly round, it just takes making the ends
meet, weld them together, then slowy work the shape perfect, by going
round and round.
