Frosty, he lives on the south side of Anchorage. The kid is struggling now as his parents are getting a divorce -- as would any 14-year-old. He's always been more interested in goofing off or playing soccer (state champs two years ago) than doing school work. But he is not a evil or mean kid, just one prone to getting in trouble for talking, cutting up or not doing as he is told. His dad, my oldest bro, is a hunting fool, has the new state champ pointer/retriever, but doesn't relate to his son as he is impatient and an overachiever anal/retentive sort while this kid is a freewheeling Tom Sawyer. Oil and water.

I hope to get him in the forge with me for a few days while he is here. If he shows any interest I'll let you know. His dad trains his dogs in Glenallen area and he could carry him up to you on a Saturday for a few hours. We'll see how it goes here first. Thanks for the kind offer.

Blacksmithing could be the thing to spark in him an interest in metallurgy, math, mechanization or something as basic as a sense of accomplishment at making something. I'm going to give it a try at least!
