A wooden and portable {and hollow} anvil stand that I used to
use for my traveling "dog and pony show" was made by placing
4 4x4 salt treated poles cut to proper lenght for my height at
each corner of my anvil. Then 2x6 boards were cut and lag bolted
to the 4x4s all around and for the complete height, make sure
you carry the 2x6s at least an inch higher than the 4x4 corner
poles, this locks the base of the anvil on your stand. a piece of
thin sheet metal was then placed over the top of the corner poles
to keep things from falling in, also cut down on that inferal ringing.
