[TheForge] weld question

I do have perfectionist tendencies. At least in my blacksmithing, maybe not
in grammer or spelling. Please don't call my client base pecular, I have
enough troubles with marketing without insulting people of means.

I'm still working on defining my niche in the market. I have a 1908 trip
hammer and a 1920 lathe, both were designed for line shaft and both have
electric motors on them and that's ok with me. Using a trip hammer doesn't
detract from the process of forging, it just makes it faster and if you
can't forge with a hand hammer a power hammer won't help. I really did
consider a line shaft but couldn't figure out a good way to hang one from a
quansit type building. I'm drawn to blacksmithing because I love the process
of manipulating hot steel. My goal is not making money, it's making
interesting stuff and becoming a better blacksmith.

Maybe cut and weld stuff upsets me because most of it is crap and it makes
me mad that the general public can't tell the difference, or don't care.

I'm obviously not talking about Steve!

"Purist/perfectionist" have to have a pecular/particular client base.
What is your goal?
To perpetuate 100 yr old practices, 50 yr old, or make money?
Pick your niche in history!
