Sounds like time for a "convenience bend".  One nice thing about
blacksmithing is that that 6' piece can be bent out of your way while
you're working on it, then rebent as you need it later.

After working through this first one today, I may decide to go another
route.
After all the stretching and swaging, I ended up working a piece which
is
nearly 6' long.
A bit unwieldy, but the worst problem is that I ran out of room between
the
anvil and forge.
I didn't expect to be working anything this size in this little
smithy.
I may decide to go with 3 separate pieces in the long run.
I may even totally redesign it.
After we test the ergonomics of this first one, things may have to
change.
