[TheForge] more gas (the propane kind)

Hi again,

Firstly thanks for the responses and I enjoyed the discussion on
recycled oil - had me think about building an oil forge for a second but
I quickly decided against it(don=92t want to start all over with forge
designs.)

Okay, I have a source for Kaowool or Durablanket here in South Africa
but apparently ITC-100 is not available and I would have to import it
from the US. These import costs coupled with the poor rand dollar
exchange rate and the outrageous price of ITC-100 result in it not being
a viable solution.
So, what alternatives are there to ITC-100 (bearing in mind that if it
is not available to me I probably will not find a similar type of
reflective insulation here in SA)?

Does anyone have any experience with an electric ignition system for a
propane forge so all I have to do is turn on the gas and push a button?
If you do, what do I need to know and/or are than any good websites.

I would also like to install a temperature reading device one the forge
with the probes inserted into the forge chamber. Can I put these probes
just anywhere inside the forge chamber and once again any website
relating to this would be a help. Also if there are any particular
brands of thermometers that are made for a forge/furnace situation, what
are they and what sort of price tag am I looking at?

Looking forward to your responses,
Sheldon Laing
