We are a small cooperative style company in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and
do mostly forged gates and railings. There are three people in the
shop, all running their own business in the same field. I have a
commission for an entrance gate that I started on two weeks ago. I am
attaching the drawing of the piece for your information. The back side
has mostly forged joinery in the frame, and I am trying to do as much
traditional work as possible. There is some electrical welding in the
assembly of the branches and leaves as well as in the decorative
appliques. My assistant is finishing up the forging of the leaves, and
the lock was commissioned to a shop in Ecuador which specializes in
this kind of work. In the coming days, I will start on the forging of
the frame bars.

I am looking for a helper available on short notice (now) for the next
two months. It could be a really interesting learning experience, as
there is a lot of hand work to do. We work with coal and gas forges,
air hammer, hydraulic press, or plainly by hand - depending on the
requirements of each detail. Please have a look at previous work under
www.iron-to-live-with.com. I am offering room and board in exchange for
full time assistance to the person chosen as intern. If you are
interested and available at this point, please respond soon.

Best regards, Helmut Hillenkamp
