Bill,
Francis Whitaker talks a little about tradesmen who fabricated
conveyer lines for the canning industry out of angle iron in his book,
the Blacksmith's Cookbook. There are miles of conveyor made of angle
in a typical factory. Apparently, there is a lot of skill required to
get angle to go where you want it with its inherent desire to twist
when bent. He describes a kind of pre-emptive bending to counter the
twist that will occur. It's a short section and worth a read.
