But you really need quite a bit more than just enough. You need to
accelerate the ram at a fairly high rate. I've heard estimates of 3x to
5x the balance pressure, so for a 100 pound ram 4 square inches would be
on the small side (given that these hammers operate at relatively low
pressures).
