Sounds like another interior designer that promises a client something without a clue as to whether it is possible or not! Hateful situation..........
But, it can be done if you attach a hanging rod to the rings on the 'inside' side of each curtain in the pair, and use that to slide (or drag) the curtains shut. Put
two notches or some sort of catch (like rivet heads) at the top where you want each of the closing curtain rings to hold. I make no stops for a partially open
curtain, just 'open' or 'closed'.
Of course, the homeowner will have to deal with the fact that there will be lots of material dragging on the floor when they are open if they are full length.
