I'd heard that too, but couldn't find a reference this way in the
dictionary. Even so, the dictionary says that "mob" is primarily used by
Brits and Aussies.
So, I've gone looking again using "crows collective noun" as the search
criteria and find several such terms.
"A hover of crows"
"A mob of crows"
"A murder of crows"
"A storytelling of crows"
Of the four options, and with special consideration to blacksmiths all
over, I still like "mob", but "storytelling" runs a real close second.
