Bruce:
We've been kicking heat treating the things around for a few days now and it
finally dawned on me the relatively high alloy grader blade I'll be using
probably won't need it at all.
Still, it was traditional to either quench under a stream of water from a
tower, etc. or by immersing upside down in a pond or creek and letting the
residual heat in the body temper the face. More controlled methods were
probably introduced around the turn of the 19th cent.
If we end up having to heat treat I'll use a 3" x 300 gpm. pump and
experiment till we get it right or destroy the ASO. It's a no lose
situation, even the time spent will be educational.
