Sam Allen, the prof who has the blacksmith shop at MIT, has been
working on a 3D printing technology that's a bit different.  Makes
metal and ceramic functional objects as well as art.  Cool tech.  I
saw the jury rigged, experimental prototype in action 7 or 8 years
