        John,  I look forward to seeing the pictures of those vices you use.

        I knew an old tool maker in the tool room of a machine shop.  He had
something on this idea to hold things in all positions for deburing,
threading, filing, etc.   Anyone that does research and development and
prototype work has call for holding weird shapes, as they are making the
parts before the jigs and production fixtures are made up to mass produce
them.
        I'm sure that these vises will become a thing of the past with CNC
as those rigs can carve a tomato out of a block of steel by pushing a button
and even tell you when the tool bit is dull.
        I respected the little grey haired master with glasses in his
machine work coat and always aspired to being like him............now he's
been almost replaced by the computer running machines.  More progress I
guess, but still it's nice to be able to use something like that kind of
vice for prototypes and dream that your clever once in a while.   :-)
