[TheForge] Ringing Anvil

I overheard Dan Cruzan yesterday saying he damped his anvil ring by =
putting a layer of RTV (=3Droom-temperature vulcanizing) silicone rubber =
under it.  I don't know whether this glues the anvil down, or if the anvil =
is free to move.  I dozed off a couple times during the demo (no fault of =
the demonstrator - I didn't sleep so well the night before) so that gives =
you an idea how quiet the anvil was.

been busy out in the shop.

built a 2x12 anvil stand using the i-forge anvil stand
plans on http://www.anvilfire.com. i am impressed as
to how solid the stand is. the anvil, which is a 17" piece
of railroad rail, still rings some so i need to look at
that tomorrow.
