A dealer in collectibles once told me a cheap way to repair a damaged
mirror.
1. clean all of the old silver off of the mirror
2. get yourself a sheet of silvered mylar and some thin white board
3. cut the white board to the shape of the glass and attach the mylar
with the double faced tape that picture framers use
4. place glass back in frame, place mylar'd board behind glass
5. inexpensive non toxic fix
