Subject: [TheForge] Need more 65 falcon transmission help

Hi,

6 mos. Or a year ago ya'll gave me some good advice on the automatic
transmission in my son's 65 falcon and just the addition of fluid seemed =
to
solve the problem. Recently it got much worse and fluid didn't help and =
so
he took it to a transmission place that came highly recommended and =
spent
$650 getting it all redone. 10 days after picking it up and it working =
very
nicely and of course after dark on Fri. night he drove in saying it =
sounded
like he was dragging something. He wasn't and when he now tries to =
start
the little beauty the starter whirrs but nothing else happens. My only
suggestion was to beat on the solenoid while trying to start it and that
didn't help and then we noticed that in drive or reverse it will easily
roll.

THis is perfectly normal. Automatics employ a fluid coupling, so free
rolling would be the case no matter what. Also, without power, an
automatic will not engage is put into Drive or Reverse. That is why
you cannot push start an automatic, though I have heard it said you
can if you get it up to something like 60 mph, but I'm not at all=20
convinced this is so. In any event, I have never tried it.

This seems wrong to me and of course Monday we'll be getting back
with the transmission guys, but I work 12 hours Mon and Tues. So, =
anyone
have any suggestions as to what may have happened?

I think all you need to know is that the tranny blew up and is under
	warranty. :)
