Does it have to *be* natural fiber or will it be ok if it *looks like*
natural fiber? The rope used on the Bluenose II schooner looks like
natural fiber. You can tell it isn't from 6" away but not further.
The riggers told me it was quite expensive but was safer because it
was stronger and didn't rot in a marine environment. The stuff I saw
on the wharf was maybe 1" but I suspect they use larger sizes too.
You might try to find out what it's called and who makes it by
contacting the people at the Bluenose Trust and asking to be put in
touch with the skipper.
