Um, what's a "slide mount" for hammer dies?
I haven't followed the "making yr own air hammer" thread closely
because I haven't been keen on doing it. But now I have this monster
A&O to restore. By comparison with some stories I heard (involving an
oxygen lance etc.) getting the lower die out was pretty easy: two
guys, cutting torch, staging and a 16# sledge. "Slide" has that nice,
easy, elegant sound to it. Where can I see a close-up detail pic of
this slide mount? Thinking about mods to the A&O that will let me
skip the 16#-hammer-and-staging part.
BTW, thanks all for the pointers on LG speeds. I've had to put that
aside while I deal with winter wood but I have all the neccessary
stuff collected up, a timber for the base is waiting at the mill and
it's next.
