I hope I caught you in time to warn you to be careful with acetone.  It =
dissolves outright some plastics like polystyrene, and will damage the =
surface of others.

Isopropyl alcohol from the medicine cabinet might be only 70%, which =
wouldn't work.  Denatured alcohol should work, though.  (That's ethyl =
alcohol - booze - treated somehow to make it poisonous and/or unpalatable.)=

Do you know WHAT markers you used on it last?  The essential thing is that =
the pigments in those markers be soluble in whatever cleaning agent you =
use.

The oil idea might work.  Also remember that contact time can matter.  =
Wipe on some oil and leave it there a day or so.  (It's harder to do this =
with solvents.  They evaporate off.)  A strong detergent solution could =
likewise be tried.  Might not work, but it's cheap and easy to try.  You'd =
have to use it after using the oil, anyway!

I tried isopropyl rubbing alcohol from the medicine cabinet to no =

the same with denatured alcohol from the hardware store (is this wood=20
alcohol?) with negative results.

I'm thinking of trying some acetone this morning.

It can be a real pain being cheap and stubborn.  I may just give in and =
go=20
for Aaron's suggestion of a board from Home Depot.
